Sofía Ramírez Named in Forbes Mexico 30 Under 30

By the ITAM Alumni Team

The ITAM alumni community is proud to congratulate Sofía Ramírez (Class of 2014) on being named in this year's Forbes Mexico 30 Under 30 list, in recognition of her exceptional work in public policy reform.

Sofía graduated from ITAM's public administration programme at the age of 22 and went on to complete a master's degree in social policy at the London School of Economics. She returned to Mexico in 2017 with a clear focus: to close the gap between policy research and real legislative change.

Since then, she has led programmes at Política con Propósito, a Mexico City-based NGO, that have directly influenced two pieces of national legislation — one on education access in rural communities and one on gender equity in the public sector workforce. Together, these initiatives have reached an estimated 200,000 beneficiaries across five states.

"I learned at ITAM that good policy is built on evidence, not ideology," Sofía said when contacted by the alumni team. "That's something I carry into every project. The work is never finished, but having a rigorous foundation makes everything else possible."

The Forbes Mexico 30 Under 30 list recognises individuals across business, technology, culture and social impact who are shaping the future of the country. Sofía was selected in the Social Impact category, with judges citing her ability to translate complex research into actionable policy at national scale.

She is currently leading a new initiative focused on digital literacy for underserved communities, set to launch across three states later this year.

ITAM Director General Dr. Alejandro Pérez Ibarra extended his personal congratulations: "Sofía is exactly the kind of alumna who makes us proud — not just for the recognition, but for the quality and purpose of the work behind it. We look forward to seeing everything she does next."
